THE CHALLENGE

Legal Utopia is committed to enhancing the user experience for individuals seeking legal advice. Building on their insights gathered from extensive focus group research, my goal was to optimise the design of solicitor/barrister profiles and refine the search functionality of the website.

PROCESS

DISCOVERY

I examined the findings from the focus groups. My objective was to validate that my interpretation of the results aligns with the stakeholders' perspectives, ensuring a cohesive understanding. This process aimed to establish a clear and informed direction for the subsequent design phase.

The research from the focus groups indicated:

Consumers wanted to be able to identify from their search results for find legal firms/solicitors that they had relevant experience in the legal area of operation that they required supporting in.
Clarity on any upfront costs a user my incur when booking a consultation with a solicitor or Law firm;
Access to honest reviews of the solicitor or Law firm. Search for Legal Aid specifically.

COMPETITOR BENCHMARKING

To help with the process of improving the website I provided a competitor analysis of a number of websites to review the design and usability. Here is a small sample of the strengths and weakness that I outlined in the output.

WIREFRAMING

LOW FIDELITY WIREFRAMING

With a similar goal to the low fidelity sketches, lo-fi wireframes were explored to ensure the desired layouts worked well with the company/brand and platform guidelines e.g. layout grids and recommended components for the given use cases.

UI DESIGN

MINI PROFILE CARD DESIGN

The proposed profile design prioritizes key information for users searching for legal assistance. It includes pertinent details such as contact information, legal areas of expertise, proximity to the user, and customer reviews. This user-centric approach ensures a comprehensive and efficient display of information to enhance the overall user experience.

DIFFERENTIATING STANDARD AND PREMIUM PROFILE CARDS

One of the key business objectives was to promote the subscription model tailored for Solicitor firms to provide their services through the Legal Utopia platform, featuring Basic, Standard, and Premium tiers.

The level of company information visible on a solicitor's public profile is influenced by their chosen subscription package. Opting for a higher-tier package grants more detailed information to the public, enhancing their visibility and positioning them favourably to attract increased business opportunities.

EXPANDING VIEW OF SOLICITOR PROFILE CARD

Expanded view of the profile gives the users a summarised and clear view of the Law firms experience, qualifications, and Law expertise.

FINAL DESIGN

The final design prospsal showcases the exploration for solicitors specialising in a specific area of law a user is seeking, and who are also located in close proximity to the user.
